2. CEO MESSAGE
Dear Stakeholders,
As we present our 2024 Sustainability Report, I am immensely proud to share the remarkable progress OP has achieved in advancing our environmental, social, and governance commitments. This report represents not just our performance over the past year, but our unwavering dedication to protecting Oman’s precious environment while driving meaningful social and economic value.
🏆 A Year of Recognition and Excellence
- 2025: Gold Award Winner - Oman Sustainability Week (SME Category)
- 2024: Silver Award Winner - Oman Sustainability Week (SME Category)
- 2023: Silver Award Winner - Oman Sustainability Week (SME Category)
Three consecutive years of sustainability excellence recognition by the Environment Authority
Since our establishment in 2008, OP has grown to become Oman’s premier environmental emergency response company, operating from 11+ strategically located bases across the Sultanate. Our mission extends far beyond commercial success—we are guardians of Oman’s coastal waters, marine ecosystems, and environmental heritage.
Exceptional Performance Across All Dimensions
Environmental Leadership: We achieved a 5.86% reduction in greenhouse gas emissions across all scopes, keeping us firmly on track toward our ambitious 2030 goal of 50% reduction. Our air quality improvements demonstrated consistent progress with 6-8% reductions in NOx, SOx, and particulate matter emissions. Most importantly, we maintained our perfect environmental incident record—zero pollution incidents caused by OP operations since 2015.
Operational Excellence: Our average emergency response time of 26 minutes is 14 times faster than the Environment Authority's standard requirement of 360 minutes. This exceptional responsiveness, combined with our 100% compliance rate in meeting EA response timeframes, underscores our commitment to protecting Oman’s environment when it matters most. We responded to 47 environmental incidents in 2024, each handled with the urgency and professionalism our nation deserves.
Unwavering Safety Culture: For the 12th consecutive year, we maintained zero Lost Time Injuries across 4,549,878 man-hours worked. This achievement reflects our deep-rooted belief that every team member deserves to return home safely every day. Our 0.00% absenteeism rate further demonstrates the health, engagement, and commitment of our workforce.
Social Impact and Inclusion: We take pride in being the only oil spill and HAZMAT response company in Oman employing women in both field operations and senior management roles. OP promotes diversity, equity, and inclusion across its workforce in line with its Equality and Diversity Policy (OP-TO-POL-008). During the reporting period, women represented approximately 40% of senior and top management positions. OP monitors workforce composition at different organizational levels and is committed to fair representation, equal opportunity, and non‑discrimination in recruitment, development, and advancement, consistent with GRI 405 (Diversity and Equal Opportunity). Our local employment rate of 87% and local sourcing of 84% generated over 200,000 OMR in revenue for Omani entities, contributing meaningfully to in-country value creation.
Community Engagement: Through initiatives like the Azaiba Beach Cleanup in partnership with the Environment Authority, and our ongoing training programs that have reached over 1,500 participants, we are building environmental awareness and capability across Oman’s communities. Our 9-year median employee tenure reflects the quality of our workplace culture and our commitment to professional development.
Strong Governance and Compliance
OP maintains the highest standards of corporate governance, certified under ISO 9001:2015 (Quality Management), ISO 14001:2015 (Environmental Management), ISO 45001:2018 (Occupational Health & Safety), and ISO 22320:2018 (Emergency Management). In 2024, we recorded zero incidents of corruption, zero compliance violations, and zero regulatory fines—a testament to our ethical foundation and operational discipline.
Contributing to National and Global Goals
OP actively supports 14 of the 17 UN Sustainable Development Goals, with an average improvement of 7% across all goals in 2024. Our highest-performing areas include SDG 6 (Clean Water - 95%), SDG 3 (Good Health - 94%), SDG 8 (Decent Work - 93%), SDG 14 (Life Below Water - 92%), and SDG 5 (Gender Equality - 91%). These achievements demonstrate that sustainability is not just a commitment but a fundamental aspect of how we operate.
Looking Ahead
As we advance toward 2030, we remain committed to continuous improvement across all dimensions of our sustainability framework. We will continue to invest in our people, strengthen our environmental protection capabilities, and drive innovation in emergency response. Our journey is guided by the principle that economic success and environmental stewardship are not competing priorities—they are inseparable elements of long-term value creation.
I extend my gratitude to our dedicated team, our trusted clients, our regulatory partners at the Environment Authority, and all stakeholders who have supported our sustainability journey. Together, we are protecting Oman’s environment for current and future generations.
